Talking to the Walls

V6

[Intro - strange high guitar figure, dry bass, drums enter loosely] [Verse 1 - detached male vocal, clean guitar] Always broke, always late Miss the bus and blame my fate Lost my keys, they're in my hand I don't think I understand Never warm, never right Kitchen buzzing through the night There's a moth above my bed I think he's doing better than me [Pre-Chorus - bass climbs, guitar holds] And I know Yeah, I know Here we go [Chorus - fuzzy guitars crash in, simple melodic hook] So low Where did everybody go? I've been talking to the walls But they don't know So cold With nowhere left to go If anybody calls Tell 'em I went home [Post-Chorus - guitars cut clean] But I'm already home [Verse 2 - back to clean guitar, conversational] Always here, always gone TV's been asleep since dawn Someone left the hallway light I let it burn all night Never won, never tried Never saw the other side I looked under everything Nothing there Except for me [Pre-Chorus - restrained build] And I know Yeah, I know Here we go [Chorus - distortion returns] So low Where did everybody go? I've been talking to the walls But they don't know So cold With nowhere left to go If anybody calls Tell 'em I went home [Post-Chorus - sudden drop] But I'm already home [Bridge - drums continue, guitar becomes strange and dissonant] There's a crack across the ceiling Looks a little like a road Maybe if I stare long enough I'll figure where it goes Maybe not [Instrumental - crooked guitar hook, bass wandering underneath] [Final Chorus - fuzzy, loose, vocal slightly strained] So low Where did everybody go? I've been talking to myself He doesn't know So cold But I kinda like it though If anybody calls Don't answer the phone [Outro - clean guitar returns, vocal almost casual] Always trying Never close Always somewhere I suppose [Instrumental Outro - guitar figure repeats and ends abruptly]
