Between Today and Tomorrow
I was standing without any ground Looking for somewhere to fall I reached for the place beneath me But there was no place at all I was lost in all my destinations Every road led me away I chased the shape of tomorrow But tomorrow became today I carried a map through every city Searching for where I began I thought I was holding the paper But the map was holding my hand I walked away into arriving I arrived into leaving The road beneath my footsteps Was already breathing Was already beathing I searched for yesterday Somewhere behind today But all I found was the space between Where everything had stayed What lives between two moments? What breathes between two names? The distance between today and tomorrow Is never far away Clocks and calendars, strange things The numbers keep rearranging All the names given to today Keep changing I watched the seconds disappear But never saw anything leave The hands kept moving around the clock But never moved away from me Moved away from me Between today and tomorrow I searched for where they meet But every step I took away Was already underneath Between today and tomorrow The distance disappeared I was chasing what was coming While it was already here Already here I woke up inside a dream Or dreamed I woke instead The walls were made of moments The moments made of breath I searched for who was dreaming Somewhere behind the scene But every eye I looked through Was looking back at me I chased the shadow of the dreamer Through the corridors of the mind But the walls were only mirrors And the mirrors were alive I searched for the one who was searching I reached for the one who could know But the hand reaching for the answer Was the answer letting go Between today and tomorrow I searched for where they meet But every step I took away Was already underneath Between today and tomorrow The distance disappeared I was chasing what was coming While it was already here Already here Already here Already here Already here Already here Here
