The Beach Buggy Boys (Part 2) (The Grand Tour S01E08)

[Intro] (Deep dramatic strings building up, heavy progressive rock guitar riff starts, slow powerful drum beat) [Verse 1] The sun rises up on the rocky black ground No signs of salvation or roads to be found The three beach buggies are battered and torn In the deepest wild desert where trouble is born [Verse 2] The suspension is crying, the metal is weak But the boss has a task that is grim and unique They must track down the poachers who hunt in the night To save the wild rhinos and put up a fight [Verse 3] They build a fake rhino from metal and steel To scare off the hunters and make it look real They mount it on wheels and they pull it along A ridiculous plan that is bound to go wrong [Verse 4] Jeremy is driving with dust in his eyes The heat from his V8 is starting to rise His radiator is leaking, the water runs low But the Grand Tour must finish, the show has to go [Verse 5] They leave the stone plains and they reach a new zone A wilderness highway where they aren't alone The gravel is corrugated, shaking their bones As the buggies are rattling like falling old stones [Verse 6] Richard is shouting, his steering is loose His sparkly purple car is running out of juice The exhaust pipe has snapped, it’s a terrible sound Like a wild angry beast screaming over the ground [Verse 7] And James is just quiet, maintaining his pace With a thick layer of dust all over his face His turquoise machine has no luxury inside Just a bumpy and punishing, horrible ride [Verse 8] Then they reach the great river, the Kunene is wide And dangerous crocodiles swim with the tide The border to Angola is just on the shore But there is no bridge here, no path anymore [Verse 9] They can't drive across and they can't swim the deep The banks of the river are muddy and steep So they build a crazy zipline from ropes and from trees To slide the heavy buggies across in the breeze [Verse 10] They pull up the cables with manpower and sweat The presenters are older and soaking wet The first buggy launches, it hangs in the sky While Jeremy watches with fear in his eye [Verse 11] It slides o'er the water, it swings and it shakes Above the sharp teeth that the crocodile makes But it lands on the sand of the opposite side A engineering triumph of passion and pride [Verse 12] They get all three buggies across the great stream Achieving the goal of this wild crazy dream The final straight line is now open and clear The end of the journey is drawing so near [Verse 13] They drive through the mud and the tall yellow grass The obstacles heavy but they manage to pass Three beaten-up Volkswagens, sixty years old Have proven their worth and are worth more than gold [Verse 14] They reach the official final border outpost Far away from the waves of the Skeleton Coast The engines are smoking, the bodywork split But the presenters are proud that they didn't just quit [Verse 15] The grandest special is coming to peace The dust and the drama can finally cease They stand by the river and look at the view A beautiful country so wild and so true [Verse 16] No studio tent could compare to this run The greatest adventure beneath the southern sun Three middle-aged men and their fiberglass toys Have written a legend for petrolhead boys [Verse 17] So raise up the banner, the anthem is clear The Namibian saga is done for this year The buggies are broken but the friendship remains Driving forever through wild African plains [Outro] (Epic orchestral rock finale, soaring electric guitar solo, heavy drums crashing, triumphant brass chords fading out slowly)
