[Verse 1] I saw your coat turn black at the end of the lane Your name hit my mouth like a match in the rain I ran past the fences past the sleeping dogs Your shadow kept moving through the fog [Pre-Chorus] And I kept calling through the heavy air You looked back once like you weren't even there My heart on my sleeve my feet in the dirt One step, then two like I knew it would hurt [Chorus] Chasing you in the darkness Chasing you, still I try Chasing you in the darkness Hold on, don't let me die Chasing you in the darkness I can feel you near Chasing you in the darkness Say my name and stay right here [Verse 2] Your footsteps split on the old stone bridge Moonlight broke on the side of the ridge I caught your sleeve for a breath, for a spark Then you slipped away back into the dark I don't need perfect I don't need signs Just one more second and your hand in mine [Pre-Chorus] And I kept calling through the heavy air You looked back once like you weren't even there My heart on my sleeve my feet in the dirt One step, then two like I knew it would hurt [Chorus] Chasing you in the darkness Chasing you, still I try Chasing you in the darkness Hold on, don't let me die Chasing you in the darkness I can feel you near Chasing you in the darkness Say my name and stay right here [Bridge] If you turn, I turn if you fall, I fall I'm not afraid of the night if it gives you all So take my hand let it pull you through I was lost out here until I found you [Final Chorus] Chasing you in the darkness Chasing you, still I try Chasing you in the darkness Hold on, don't let me die Chasing you in the darkness I can feel you near Chasing you in the darkness Say my name and stay right here Chasing you in the darkness Chasing you, don't disappear
