After the Rains

The dust has settled on the road we knew The drums are echoes, softer than before The night still holds the shape of what we moved through But I don’t hear it calling like it did before Pre We were reaching for a distant sound Now it’s here, it’s all around Chorus After the rains in Africa What do you hold on to? When every sky you dreamed of Finally comes into view After the call, the miracle After the wild horizon Do you stay where the river runs Or follow it beyond? Verse 2 The stars don’t shimmer quite the way they did Or maybe I just see them differently We chased a rhythm only we could live Now it’s a memory that won’t release Pre Every step that brought us here Still resounds, still rings clear Chorus After the rains in Africa What do you hold on to? When every sky you dreamed of Finally comes into view After the call, the miracle After the wild horizon Do you stay where the river runs Or follow it beyond? Bridge There’s a silence in the distance now Like the land has said its piece No more waiting on the thunder Just the hush of what it means Final Chorus After the rains in Africa Nothing is like before Every dream you carried Isn’t what you’re reaching for After the call, the miracle After the endless sky Do you rest in the life you found Or keep the fire alive?
