Rotindu-mă

Se-aşează pescăruşii să mănânce resturile noastre (Seagulls settle down to eat our leftovers) pe plaja pe care nu am apucat să ne iubim. (on the beach where we never got the chance to make love.) Mai trece câte un alergător (Every now and then a jogger passes by) şi îi împrăştie, (and scatters them,) dar ei se întorc (but they return) să nu lase nimic în urma noastră. (so as to leave nothing behind us.) Şi eu te-am îndepărtat (I, too, pushed you away) pentru că tu m-ai azvârlit în toate cotloanele vieţii tale (because you hurled me into every nook and cranny of your life,) cerându-mi să văd, (demanding that I see,) să fac curat, (that I clean up,) să adun. (that I gather.) Nu ştiu cum se poate numi nevoia aceasta a mea... de tine, (I don’t know what to call this need of mine for you,) de mine prin tine, (for myself through you,) de mine... de după tine. (for myself… after you.) Nu este dor. (It is not longing.) Rotindu-mă pe după tine – (Spinning round after you –) chiar după ce m-ai lăsat să izvorăsc dinlăuntrul tău, (even after you let me spring forth from within you,) în cercuri mari rotindu-mă, (spinning in wide circles,) până ce m-ai îndepărtat cu raza ta la infinit- (until you cast me away with your ray into infinity-) rotindu-mă, zic, am ameţit. (Spinning, as I was saying, I became dizzy.) Ar fi trebuit să tac. Şi mai mult să tac. (I should have kept silent. And kept even more silent.) Să-ţi arăt cât de mult te iubesc şi să plec, (To show you how much I love you and then leave,) Să rămână în urma mea misterul seminţelor nerodite. (Leaving behind me the mystery of the unborn seeds.) Spune-mi către ce poartă vrei să te-ndrepţi ca eu să mă-ndrept de spate şi să-mi răstignesc trupul. (Tell me which way you wish to go so that I may turn my back and crucify my body.)
