A Papa Bear Story

Come here John and James Sit close beside my chair I’ve got a story From the days when I was young and wore A badge with care You may hear A thousand voices Saying heaven feels so far But I have felt the hand of God Beneath a Sunday morning star I was standing in The church house With my heart laid open wide When the Holy Spirit Met me like a river from inside There was mercy in the silence There was fire in the air And I walked out changed forever With His presence everywhere Oh I know that God is real I have felt His power heal When His love moved Through these hands I became part of His plan John and James remember well Heaven still can touch this earth God can use an ordinary soul And show him what his life is worth For three long days I walked around With glory in my bones Like the Lord had turned The whole wide world into His holy home Every sunrise seemed to sparkle Every stranger seemed a friend And I prayed Lord if You need me Let Your purpose never end On the third day I was working as A young traffic cop Watching cars along the highway Keeping danger from the block Then I saw a woman speeding So I pulled her to the side Never knowing God had placed A holy moment in that ride Oh I know that God is real I have felt His power heal When His love moved Through these hands I became part of His plan John and James remember well Heaven still can touch this earth God can use an ordinary soul And show him what his life is worth As I walked up to her window I could hear her crying out She was twisting there in agony Overwhelmed by pain and doubt Then a voice as clear as morning Spoke softly to my heart Lay your hands upon My daughter Let My healing love impart So I did just what He told me Though my breath was standing still And a current moved between us Stronger than my human will From my hands into her body Went a power pure and bright And the pain that held her captive Vanished in a flash of light We both stood there in amazement Neither one could speak a word Time itself seemed held in silence By the wonder we had heard Then she looked at me with mercy And I knew beyond all doubt God had reached into that moment And His healing had poured out After what felt like forever I just smiled and stepped away Said God bless you not a ticket Then I sent her on her way As I walked back to my patrol car One truth filled my heart through My purpose was not only what I Wore but what God called me to do So each morning I still ask Him Lord please let me be Your hand Send me where a heart is hurting Help me serve Your greater plan And when I tell this tale to John and James I want you both to see The God who healed that lady Still has work to do through me Oh I know that God is real I have felt His power heal He can take a willing heart And make it part of something large John and James when days are hard Keep this truth within your soul Listen when the Spirit calls you Let His love make broken whole Papa Bear still prays each day Lord show me who needs You near For the God who moved Beside that road Is still alive is still right here
