[Intro] [Verse 1] Dust has choked this valley for a hundred barren years The cracked earth split open like a thousand dried-up tears They called this canyon Nightfall 'cause the sun refused to shine Just a graveyard of shadows in a forgotten lifetime The preachers stopped their praying, the wells were hollow bone We were prisoners of the desert, bleeding on a throne of stone But the air is turning heavy, a static in the breeze A pressure drop is screaming, bringing giants to their knees! [Pre-Chorus] Look to the western sky, the dark is rolling in The suffocating heat is finally wearing thin The thunder rolls like artillery fire Burning up the stakes of our dying desire! [Chorus] Rain at Nightfall! Washing clean the skin! Rain at Nightfall! Let the flood begin! Sky is breaking open, heaven's tearing down the wall Lightning strikes the steeple, listen to the water call Rain at Nightfall! Yeah, we’re gonna drink it all! [Instrumental] [Verse 2] The first drop hits the iron roof, sounds like a bullet fired Another cracks the pavement, the spark that we required People running to the streets, looking at their hands Screaming at the black clouds overtaking the lands They’ve never seen the torrent, they’ve never felt the cold The greatest resurrection that the world has ever told The dirt is turning into mud, the mud is washing free The ghosts of this old ghost town are drowning in the sea! [Instrumental] [Bridge] Can you feel it? (Rain falling fast) Can you taste it? (At long, long last) The storm is our savior, the storm is our king Listen to the thunder sing! Listen to it sing! [Outro] Wash it away! Let it drown! The first time it poured on Nightfall town! [Heavy double-bass drum onslaught] Rain! At! Nightfall! [End]
