Banyan Thorns - Carried On Currents
+ Show full styles
I sat at the river’s edge, Watching the insects skim across, The flowing waters, Where deep beneath, the turtles breathed. The reeds bent low to listen, Dragonflies stitched the air with light, Every ripple spoke in tongues Older than my sorrow. Wash away this grief, Cleanse me of my emptiness, Let me be carried on currents Down the river’s stream. The minnows wrote their silver hymns, The heron bowed in stillness, And I laid my heart like driftwood, To see if it would float. Wash away this grief, Cleanse me of my emptiness, Let me be carried on currents Down the river’s stream. If I return, let it be as rain, If I return, let it be as mist, If I return, let it be as river, Flowing where no grief remains.
