[Verse 1] Got my first real spliff rolled Lit it up at the five-and-dime Smoked it ‘til my lungs felt gold Was the summer of high times Me and my homies blazed real hard We were young and feelin’ free Jimmy had the papers, and Mikey a jar Of sticky green from Tennessee [Pre-Chorus] Oh when I puffed that first drag It felt like time just froze And I knew right then and there This life was one I chose [Chorus] Smokin’ the summer of 69 spliffs Blowin’ clouds in the midnight mist Ain’t nothin’ like that first deep hit Feelin’ the bass and the reggae riffs And if I had the chance I’d roll it back again That was the summer Of 69 spliffs, yeah [Verse 2] Back when the only thing we knew Was passin’ joints and skippin’ school Chillin’ in the park ’til the stars came through Blazin’ like we made the rules [Bridge] Man, we were stoned but full of dreams Dancin’ through that smoky scene And now whenever the sunset hits I light one up — remember this: [Chorus] Smokin’ the summer of 69 spliffs Blowin’ clouds in the midnight mist Laughin’ loud ‘bout stupid shhh Still got those lighters and matchbook tricks And if I had the chance I’d roll it back again That was the summer Of 69 spliffs [Outro] It was the summer… yeahhh Of 69 spliffs Roll one for the good times Light one for the friends we miss Livin’ the summer… Of 69 spliffs 🌿🔥
