MARY-ENG-CELTIC-02C Bells at the Edge of Evening

[Intro] bells at the edge of evening crossed the river soft as a hand laid over grief [Verse 1] The village roofs were violet and low the last birds folded where the alders grow I stood beside the water and heard your name return without a word [Pre-Chorus] No thunder came, no sign was given only bells between earth and heaven [Chorus] Ring slowly, bells of the evening ring over water, ring over stone someone I loved is still in the leaving someone I lost is never alone [Instrumental Interlude] [Verse 2] The ferryman slept by the lantern flame the river went on with no need of a name I let my sorrow loosen and pass like one dark cloud from the mirror of glass [Bridge] If peace must come by sound let it be low and round [Final Chorus] Ring slowly, bells of the evening ring over water, ring over stone someone I loved is still in the leaving someone I lost is never alone [Outro] bells at the edge of evening crossed the river
