The song "Wayfaring Stranger" is a classic folk spiritual with no known author, it had a different name around the civil war as the "Libby Prison Hymn." It was highly popular during the Civil War among Union soldiers, who found its theme of a weary journey and hope for a better life a motivation to fight for themselves and the oppressed. I have decided not to use the traditional melody that you may know and love. I wanted to make it a bit more warm and personal and added a bridge that is not apart of the original. I hope you too are encouraged by this hymn. ❤️-MB ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· I am a poor, wayfaring stranger A-traveling through this world of woe There is no sickness, no toil, no danger In that bright world to which I go I've faced the shadows in the hollows I've felt the burden of my past But my tired soul, it finds its solace In the home that's built to last I know dark clouds will gather ‘round me I know my way is rough and steep But golden fields lie just beyond me Where the redeemed will peacefully sleep I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger A-traveling through this world I'm going home to see my father I'm just going home I'm just going home Just going home... ----------------------------------- Arrangement and New Lyrics by : Modern Bard Additional Lyrics and Music: © 2025 Modern Bard All rights reserved. -----------------------------------
