Genesis Chapter 14 (Encore)
[Verse 1] In the days when kings went to war, Four rose up against the five, Chedorlaomer led the charge, And the plains of Siddim came alive. Bera of Sodom took his stand, Birsha of Gomorrah too, With allies near the Salt Sea sand, But the tide of battle flew. [Verse 2] They fought through Ashteroth and Ham, Through Shaveh Kiriathaim, Cut down the Refaheem and the tribes, Left ruin in their name. Then they turned to En-mishpat’s springs, Defeating Amalek’s land, And pressed on toward the Amorites’ hills By Hazazon-tamar’s sands. [Chorus] Four kings against the five that day, The valley burned, the cities lay— And Sodom’s gold was carried away, And Lot was taken too, Abram’s brother’s son, Bound by war’s cruel truth. [Verse 3] A messenger ran through the hills, To Abram by the trees, Where Mamre’s tents stood still and strong, Among his ancient peace. When Abram heard his kin was bound, He armed his household men, Three hundred eighteen born within, And rode to save his friend. [Verse 4] By night he struck from every side, At Dan their camp was torn, He chased them north to Hobah’s plain, Till the captives were restored. He brought back Lot and all his goods, The women and the store, And victory was Abram’s crown, The Lord had given more. [Chorus] Four kings fled before one man, Guided by a mighty hand, Abram stood where few could stand, And peace returned again, By faith he fought and faith he won, The friend of God and men. [Bridge] Then came Melchizedek, Salem’s king, Priest of God Most High, He blessed the one whom heaven blessed, ‘By El Elyon you rise.’ He brought out bread and wine that day, A covenant to keep, And Abram gave a tenth in praise, To the One whose promises never sleep. [Outro] The king of Sodom offered spoils, But Abram bowed and said, “I lift my hand to heaven’s throne, To God by whom I’m led. Not a thread nor strap I’ll take, Lest you claim this crown instead— Let only my men have what they earned, And the Lord’s name be blessed.”
