Cheese Cake ---------------- A glazed and sugared treat sits on my plate I promised I would pass, but here I wait I swear today I will not touch a bite But then my will just fades without a fight It pulls me in, I cannot look away My diet plan has crumbled for the day The fridge hums low, it knows my little game It whispers that my hunger has no shame I grab a fork and tiptoe, barely dressed And find the cheesecake hiding with the rest Before the morning comes to judge my choice I eat in peace, ignoring conscience's voice My tea is warm inside its heavy cup I blink and find the pastry has been up A love affair that lasted just one bite Now crumbs are scattered, framing me just right They dust my chin and ruin my proud look My noble face undone by what I took Tomorrow I will run the winding track With heavy weights upon my aching back But right now I will savour what is sweet This tiny thrill belongs to me, complete I grab a fork and tiptoe, barely dressed And find the cheesecake hiding with the rest Life moves too fast, a pastry makes me smile And laughter keeps me going for a while --- "Cheese Cake" Copyright © 2026 Rick n' Stolti.
