My kid is my kid, my kid is not me, my kid will be— what my kid will be. My kid, hopefully, won’t be a mirror of all humanity. My kid, hopefully, will grow into a strong individuality, a healthy personality— able to bring around a sea of fertility, able not to run aground on restricted ground. Not the old traditional sound— not the turning, turning, around and around, not in the oppressive bond so easily found. Whatever my kid wants to be, my kid will hopefully be. Hopefully—completely free. Hopefully—better than me. And hopefully I’ll see what my kid turns out to be. My kid is not me, my kid will not be me— my kid will be better than me. And that's what I hope my kid will be.
