LUNAR MOTHS.
**[INTRO]** Moonlight hunts my dreams with its beams, Alone with them now, so it seems. Catches them like moths, foolish and white, Flying from flowers into starry night. Moonlight slides, silent and deep, Shattering the peace I try to keep. A whisper from the stars, a distant call, And dreams that mean nothing, nothing at all. I cannot catch the moths in flight, I cannot bring back my dreams of the night. Wings of snow, in the night's yellow glow, Chasing my dream where I cannot go. I watch them leave with a silent cry, "Why without me? Tell me why." How can I follow you to the Moon? How can I get my dreams back soon? Wingless now, I cannot fly, Just watch the sky with a tearful eye. Moonlight slides, silent and deep, Shattering the peace I try to keep! A whisper from the stars, a distant call, And dreams that mean nothing, NOTHING AT ALL! I cannot catch the moths in flight, I CANNOT BRING BACK MY DREAMS OF THE NIGHT! They flap their wings, a pale white ring, Lured by the light the starlight can bring. (Voice becomes small, hopeless) All that I have are these dreams I hold, How do I reach the Moon, so bold? From star to star, into the black, I can't call them, I can't bring them back. Their silk wings melt in the lunar sheen, No flight for me... just roads unseen. Moonlight slides, silent and deep, Shattering the peace I try to keep. A whisper from the stars, a distant call, And dreams that mean nothing, nothing at all. I cannot catch the moths in flight, I cannot bring back my dreams of the night. Moonlight fades, the starlight dies, They've all flown off before my eyes. I stare ahead, my longing vast, How can I soothe a pain that will last? Moonlight slides, silent and deep, Shattering the peace I try to keep. A whisper from the stars, a distant call, And dreams that mean nothing, nothing at all. I cannot catch the moths in flight, I cannot bring back my dreams of the night.
