[Verse 1] In a meadow we stayed as the daylight bled Blanket spread careful where the dry leaves rest I carved the pumpkin slow so the light wouldn’t scare Just us and the shadows drifting through the air [Chorus] Jack-o’-lantern glowing, soft and low It catches every line of you I know I see us further down the road Cherished moments, simple and slow You’re my steady in the fading light Everything feels right [Verse 2] I waved the small worries off into the grass Glad you didn’t ask, glad we let the moment pass I set my plans aside and just sat with the view Lantern low between us, Halloween coming through Dry leaves scratch across the blanket when the wind picks up You lean in closer and the pumpkin light fills your cup Somewhere down the hill a porch light flickers on and off But up here it’s only the two of us and the dark is soft [Chorus] Jack-o’-lantern glowing, soft and low It catches every line of you I know I see us further down the road Cherished moments, simple and slow You’re my steady in the fading light Everything feels right [Bridge] I reached for the ordinary things Music, movies, the little stories we bring Picnic basket open on the hill above the town You pull me closer when the weekend settles down Orange light and black sky, the cold settling in Still the warmest place is right where you’ve been [Chorus] Jack-o’-lantern glowing, soft and low It catches every line of you I know I see us further down the road Cherished moments, simple and slow You’re my steady in the fading light Everything feels right [Outro] Lantern low… Everything feels right
