During this holiday season, the Church of the Sainte Flanelle wishes you to play prudently, and to remember the humble birth of Saint Maurice Richard, his rise marked by humility and generosity. It invites you to show your gratitude to the parents of young players, who devote considerable resources— in financial expenses, time, and energy— to dress and equip our youth, to transport them from one arena to another, to care for them and encourage them. The Church of the Sainte Flanelle also wishes you to develop compassion for professional players who turn to substance use when they crack under the pressure of performance, the challenge of balancing hockey, travel, and family life, and the constant obligation to maintain a high level of statistical performance in the effort they make to remain at the professional level. The Church of the Sainte Flanelle further wishes you to develop empathy for hockey players who are injured in the course of their sport, whether they belong to the Sainte Flanelle or elsewhere. And beyond all of this, we wish you a sporting year that is engaging, and worthy of your hopes. Go Fans Go!
