[Verse 1] Down on their knees on a faded rug Kitchen light hums Coffee in a cracked mug Tired eyes staring at a stack of unpaid mail Whispered names drifting like a fragile trail [Pre-Chorus] They don’t have much but they’re holding on To a worn-out book and an old Old song [Chorus] Dear God Please protect that family They’re doing all they can just to stand The struggles of this life have been heavy Jesus Take their hand Take their hand Please Lord Look after that man Woman And child Wrap them up in mercy when the world gets wild Dear God Please protect that family They’re trying to make a stand [Verse 2] Little shoes lined by the back-door mat Hearts worn thin but they still laugh at that Burned toast Bad jokes And a late-night prayer They say each name like they’re counting air [Pre-Chorus] They don’t know how but they trust You do So they lay it all Every fear On You [Chorus] Dear God Please protect that family They’re doing all they can just to stand The struggles of this life have been heavy Jesus Take their hand Take their hand Please Lord Look after that man Woman And child Teach them love and kindness when the road turns wild Dear God Please protect that family They’re seeking Your guidance Lord Amen [Bridge] When the nights get long and the bills come due (oh Lord) When they feel worn thin and they don’t see You Be the strength they can’t quite find Be the peace inside their mind [Chorus] Dear God Please protect that family They’re doing all they can just to stand The struggles of this life have been heavy Jesus Take their hand Take their hand Please Lord Look after that man Woman And child Hold them close in goodness Gentle and mild Dear God Please protect that family They’re seeking Your guidance Lord Amen
