Everyone in the village congratulated us. That made me happy. But... our lives didn't really change all that much. We'd wake up in the morning and check on the rice fields, pull out the weeds, have a simple breakfast, then go check the rice fields again. After lunch, we'd go check the rice fields again. ...We really did spend all our time thinking about those fields, didn't we? You didn't go hunting very often. You'd always been a little clumsy, after all. But instead, you were good at doing the heavy work. While I checked on the rice, you'd carry heavy things or lend a hand to everyone in the village. And just like that, another day would pass. What was the best thing about living together? Let's see... I suppose it was... knowing that you were always there. Even when we went out to the fields, you'd be somewhere nearby. If I didn't see you for a little while, I'd start wondering where you'd gone, and I'd get a little worried. But then I'd spot you somewhere in the distance. Oh. There you are. And just that was enough to put me at ease. My little sister married and moved away too, and she was living well. The person she married was a good one too, and they seemed to be getting along just fine. Father. Mother. We're doing all right. We're getting along, and we're living happily. Morning comes, we check the fields, eat our meals, and check the fields again. I work beside you, and when the sun goes down, the two of us walk home together. And tomorrow, another day just like this one will begin. Nothing particularly special happens. But... I suppose that was just fine. We were blessed. That much, I know for certain.
