[Verse 1] Your mug is still behind the good glasses There’s a charger underneath the bed One black T-shirt I know isn’t mine And a book you never finished by my head Your fingerprint on the kitchen speaker Your handwriting on a frozen-food label Evidence everywhere For something nobody could save [Pre-Chorus] No photographs required No witness on the stand I can prove you lived here By the shape you left in ordinary things [Chorus] Domestic evidence A toothbrush in the drawer Coffee measured your way A dent beside the door Domestic evidence Small exhibits of a life Nothing dramatic Nothing sacred Just proof you once were mine I cleared the room But objects have excellent memories [Verse 2] There’s one setting on the passenger seat That still moves back to where you liked it A takeaway menu with your order circled Though the restaurant redesigned it You were here Not metaphorically Not beautifully Just physically And somehow that is what gets me The most [Bridge — darker] I could throw it all away tonight Bag it Box it Clean until the place forgets But I don’t think healing Requires pretending The evidence was never evidence [Final Chorus] Domestic evidence Your absence has dimensions now An empty shelf A spare key A habit I still haven’t worked out Domestic evidence I’m not building any case I already know exactly what happened Love lived here Then changed address [Outro] Exhibit A My life
