[Verse 1] Kid in a cheap suit Shining shoes Watching the big shots argue over rooms Dandy Dan’s grinning Got a sticky new scheme Fizzy in the corner still chasing her dream Blousey with a suitcase Ticket in her hand Would rather Hollywood Than some dive bar band Fat Sam’s speakeasy’s hanging by a thread “Stick with me Bugsy And you’ll get ahead” [Chorus] Splurge and dreamers Custard wars in the midnight air Bang-bang Nobody’s bleeding Only cream in your clothes and hair From the back streets to the bright stage We’re all just kids in over-sized coats Splurge and dreamers Singing like we mean every note (hey!) [Verse 2] Tallulah is singing Feathers in her hair She’s winning your heart just by standing there Sam’s losing ground Dan’s taking blocks New guns New tension Ticking like a clock Bugsy wants Blousey on that westbound train But favors and danger keep calling his name One last deal One wild food-fight night Gangsters and chorus lines slipping in creamy white [Chorus] Splurge and dreamers Custard wars in the midnight air Bang-bang Nobody’s bleeding Just cream in your clothes and hair From the back streets to the bright stage We’re all just kids in over-sized coats Splurge and dreamers Singing like we mean every note (oh yeah) (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) [Bridge] Truce on the floor Kiss peace goodbye Sugar on our faces Laughter in our eyes We chase power We chase fame But we all end up in the same sweet rain [Chorus] Splurge and dreamers Custard wars in the midnight air Bang-bang Nobody’s bleeding Just cream in your clothes and hair [Chorus] Splurge and dreamers Custard wars in the midnight air Bang-bang Hearts still beating We dance through the mess we wear From the back streets to the bright stage We’re all just kids with secondhand hopes Splurge and dreamers Sharing one big closing note (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) (Bang Bang!) Splurge and dreamers
