When I grew up, Men were men Problem with a friend? You confronted it Spoke your mind Tried to explain the issue Gave them a chance... To remedy it But since platforms, apps Keyboards, and smart phones It's all passive aggressive Men tellin everyone else What their problem is With someone else, Scared to talk To a man they have the problem with It's not even face to face It's keyboard to keyboard Across frequencies and empty space But they scared all the same We've allowed this unreality To become our reality Unreality, reality Reality, unreality Such a lack of respect Such a spit in the face Especially if you've been honest Meant well, and tried to be open To so many in these times... Friend... Brother... Bro... Bruv... Sis... Sister... Have simply become Meaningless words Used to try And create a bond Bond created Then shattered For the simplest of slights Cause in reality We're not THAT tight We've allowed this unreality To become our reality Unreality, reality Reality, unreality As an older man I believe many have no idea How to interact with actual people I believe many have kept themselves Trapped behind one screen or another I'm not saying it's wrong Yet I AM saying, it's easier It's easier to just shut someone out It's easier than trying to maintain A true friendship and say, hey... What you did was wrong... And give them a chance to say sorry Change And save the connection Instead, most just hang up Without any explanation It's not even face to face It's keyboard to keyboard Across frequencies and empty space But they scared all the same We've allowed this unreality To become our reality Unreality, reality Reality, unreality My advice... A friend who has upset you... Tell them directly how... Give them a chance... Give friendship a chance... Disrespect only triggers the same... In kind.
