When the Worms of the Earth Arise

[intro][Surreal solo: out-of-tune robotic bird] The Roman heel has crushed the peat, [Weird transition: descending glissando + dry throat] The Pictish bones lie cold and sweet. The standing stones weep salt and red – The profaned earth demands its dead. [Guttural breakdown + broken falsetto] Vengeance! Through caverns where no sunlight fell, They slithered from the broken shell. With eyes like bile and skin like mould, They rise to claim the land of old. [chorus] Vengeance! [bridge] No legion's wall, no iron spear Can stay the thing that crawls to hear The pulse of traitors warm and deep – The Worms break forth, the earth shall weep. [break] Vengeance! [guitar solo] Then let the invader's children know: The ground you walk is living woe. Your towers fall, your hearths turn black – The Worms of Earth bring nothing back. [Chaotic ending: all at once] Vengeance! [outro]
