Ce nโรฉtait pas une forรชt. La forรชt fit un pas en avant. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Once upon a time, in a valley forgotten by maps and men, there existed a forest that no one had ever fully traversed. The elders called it the Edge of Breath, for those who drew near said that the treesโฆ breathed. No wind. No animals. No sound. Just that strange sensation, as if the forest had a heart, and it was beating slowly, deeply, beneath the earth. One evening, a young traveler named Elian arrived at the edge of this forest. He sought nothing, save a place to sleep. But the forest, for its part, seemed to be waiting for him. The trees stood motionless, yet their shadows shifted. The moss vibrated beneath his steps, as if recognizing his weight. And in the distance, far, far away, a soft voice, almost a whisper, called to him. Not a shout. Not a song. Just a breath. A breath that spoke his name. Elianโฆ Elianโฆ He stopped. The voice stopped too. Then it began again, closer. Elianโฆ He felt the forest closing in behind him, as if the trunks had stepped a pace closer. He tried to step back, but the earth seemed to hold his feet fast. Then he understood. It was not a forest. It was a presence. An ancient presence, patient, that had waited too long for someone who could hear its call. The voice whispered again, but this time, it did not speak his name. It said something else. A phrase he did not understand, but which made the air around him vibrate. Rhyโta vel soranโฆ The trees shuddered. The moss contracted. And the entire forest seemed to wake up. Elian took a step back. The forest took a step forward. Night fell all at once, as if someone had blown out the light. And in the darkness, the voice finally said what it truly meant. Come in. I was waiting for you.
