[[VERSE 1]] He reclines inside the gates of diamond and pearl. Eve’s nowhere around, so far, far away. “You’re entering the gates of a heavenly world. Lean in close to hear what I’m gonna say. [[VERSE 2]] I’ll profess no insight into heaven at all. No lessons, no wisdom, no need to implore. She put a chasm between God and us, you‘ll recall. I lost her the minute we walked in the door. [[CHORUS]] They say I’m the Father of Humanity. It’s a label I’ll never be able to shake. I was only doing what came all too naturally When along came that whispering snake. [[VERSE 3]] I set sin in motion, you cannot dispute. Our appetites could never be contained. I remember the taste of that forbidden fruit. My fingers are all now perpetually stained. [[VERSE 4]] Heaven’s a lot different than a perfect earth, That in which we lived before we fell. There’s no high like being the First of the First And no low like being the creator of hell. [[CHORUS]] They say I’m the Father of Humanity. It’s a label I’ll never be able to shake. I was only doing what came all too naturally When along came that whispering snake. [[BRIDGE]] Little Eve, the Eve of my destruction, we’ve got eternity to make it right I lost you the minute we got here, little Eve. Little Eve, I need you tonight Little Eve, little Eve, you’re wandering, away to your caverns of light I lost you the minute we got here. Little Eve, little Eve, I need you tonight [[OUTRO]] They never call her the Mother of Humanity. It’s a label I don‘t think she‘d mind. Without her, I’m a little too close to insanity. In my humanity, I need her tonight. Without her, I’m a little too close to insanity. In my humanity, I need her tonight. I need her tonight. I need her tonight."
