The lunch bell rings and the stampede starts. Everybody grab a tray. Someone says the soup looks greasy. Someone says, “Don’t ask, just pray”. The rolls are hard, the gravy’s blue. The milk’s been out all day. But don’t complain, don’t even try. You don’t want Helga’s glare today. It’s time for lunch, it’s time for lunch. Everybody guard your tray. One wrong step and lunch goes flying. Clear the aisle, clear the way. It’s time for lunch, oh me, oh my, sauce and pudding sailing by. Watery noodles, mystery stew. Better duck before you chew. Someone found a hair today, curled up in the mystery stew. Someone swears the meatloaf blinked. And I’m afraid it might be true. There’s a roach leg on my bread, and maggots in the rice. The vending machine is looking, pretty nice, pretty nice. Skip the line! Save your shoes! Lunchroom law says, someone’s gonna lose! It’s time for lunch, it’s time for lunch. Everybody guard your tray. One wrong step and lunch goes flying. Clear the aisle, clear the way. It’s time for lunch, oh me, oh my. Sauce and pudding sailing by. Watery noodles, mystery stew. Better duck before you chew. One tray wobbles. One chair slides. One kid ducks. Another hides. No one moves. No one breathes. Then somebody yells, “Who cut the cheese?” It’s time for lunch, it’s time for lunch. Everybody guard your tray. Red sauce splatter, noodles fly, clear the aisle, clear the way. It’s time for lunch, oh me, oh my. Lunchroom legends never die. Watery noodles, mystery stew. Better duck before you chew. It’s time for lunch. It’s time for lunch. Check your tray. And back away. It's time for lunch.
