[Verse 1] My canoe is on the Ohio, Waiting, love, for thee. There is no gal in all the land That's half so fair as thee. So come, my love, and go with me, Together we will roam, And I will take you far away To see my happy home. [Chorus} Then haste, my love, and we will row In the light canoe, Adown the stream, the silv’ry flow, The lovely Ohio. [Verse 2] Oh come, my love, don’t make me wait, Just step into my boat. When first I saw your gentle face, My heart began to float. You said you'd go along with me, To wander and to dream, So let us drift forevermore Adown the silv’ry stream. [Verse 3] Farewell, my love, I see you pause, Your mind has changed, I fear. And all I ask before I go: Don’t ever send for me, dear. Your fairy form has won this heart, No other shall it know. But if you come, then take my hand, We’ll ride the Ohio.
