[Verse 1] I found a dime in the cart corral Blue receipt on the ground A kid kicked a plastic lid Like it was a crown I waved at a man in a lemon vest He waved back slow Then a dog in a red raincoat Stole the show [Pre-Chorus] And for a second there The whole world fit In a cracked-up lot And a shopping cart zip [Chorus] Random little thing You caught me smiling Random little thing Kept the dark from piling Random little thing Right on my sleeve Random little thing That I didn’t need [Verse 2] A bingo card in the laundromat Three scoops of mint soap foam Someone left a paper boat Sailing through a chrome Old man with a grocery list Drew a fish in pen I swear that fish Looked back at me again [Pre-Chorus] And I kept that look All the way home Like a tiny spark In a pocket of stone [Chorus] Random little thing You caught me smiling Random little thing Kept the dark from piling Random little thing Right on my sleeve Random little thing That I didn’t need [Bridge] Maybe that’s how it goes One small clue A bent-up sign A red balloon A stray bit of gold In a dirty day And somehow my whole mood Moves out of the gray [Final Chorus] Random little thing You caught me smiling Random little thing Kept the dark from piling Random little thing Right on my sleeve Random little thing That I didn’t need Random little thing Still following me Random little thing Yeah, that’s enough for me
