[Title: THE BOOK WAS OPENED] [Intro] It sat there all those years. Same words. Same pages. Same God. But one day— THE BOOK WAS OPENED. And we dared to go deeper. [Verse 1] We thought we were reading it. Then it started reading us. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…” It divided what I had mixed. It questioned what I had assumed. It walked straight past what somebody told me and asked— WHAT DOES THE SCRIPTURE SAY? We turned another page. And things we had read a hundred times stood up— ALIVE. [Chorus] THE BOOK WAS OPENED! AND WE DARED TO GO IN! DIG A LITTLE DEEPER! TURN THE PAGE AGAIN! I thought I was searching the Scriptures— then the Scriptures searched me. QUICK AND POWERFUL! ALIVE IN MY HANDS! The deeper we went— THE MORE WE SAW CHRIST! [Verse 2] Names started speaking. Places started pointing. Adam. Abraham. Isaac. Israel. Names given. Names changed. Children named before they were born. Then— “thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Names mattered inside the Book. So we searched. Not to make ourselves the center. But because— “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” SEARCH IT OUT. TEST IT. And wherever it leads— FOLLOW IT TO CHRIST. [Chorus] THE BOOK WAS OPENED! AND WE DARED TO GO IN! DIG A LITTLE DEEPER! TURN THE PAGE AGAIN! We thought we were searching the Scriptures— THE SCRIPTURES SEARCHED US! The deeper we went— THE MORE WE SAW CHRIST! [Verse 3] Then the light turned toward me. I knew dance. I knew rhythm. I knew how to teach a body to move. Then that season ended. And songs started coming. Scripture became melody. Truth found rhythm. Verse after verse started asking to be sung. Then I remembered my middle Name— CAROL. A song. They told me— YOU CAN’T SING But praise God you can dance! Maybe they were listening for the wrong thing. I didn't know I could carry a song without being the voice that sang it. “There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.” Different instrument. SAME LORD. [Bridge] So I will not boast in a name. I will not boast in a gift. Because Jesus said— “Search the scriptures…” “they are they which testify of me.” THERE. That's the treasure. Not me. CHRIST. [Final Chorus] THE BOOK WAS OPENED! AND WE DARED TO GO IN! DIG A LITTLE DEEPER! TURN THE PAGE AGAIN! After all the digging— after all the names— after all the patterns— after all the songs— LOOK WHAT THE BOOK KEEPS DOING! POINTING. TO. CHRIST. [Spoken] And then I asked myself— Why was I named CHRIS-TEE Carol? Before I knew Scripture would become song. Before I knew I would spend my days making songs that keep pointing to Christ. CHRIS-TEE. Carol. Christ. Song. I cannot tell you why God allowed me to carry that name. But I can search it out. I can test it. I can watch the fruit. And I will not make the name my glory. Because if there is something here worth finding— it isn't— LOOK AT MY NAME. It's— LOOK WHERE MY NAME POINTS. CHRIST. JESUS IS THE LORD.
