Paper 162 β At the Feast of Tabernacles πΆ Song: Light at the Feast of Tabernacles (Verse 1 β Through Samaria) We walked the road through Gilboa's land, Turned away by a fearful hand. Not for wrong and not for blame, Only because of a people's name. Stones were thrown and doors were closed, Hatred spoke what love opposed. Yet Jesus said, "Let judgment cease, The Father's way is found in peace." (Verse 2 β The Sons of Thunder) "Call down fire!" the brothers cried, Justice burning in their pride. But the Master turned and said, "No kingdom grows where vengeance treads." The village lost what it could not see, The Lord of all eternity. Not conquered by insult or rod, The patient mercy of our God. (Chorus) Light at the Feast of Tabernacles, Shining in Jerusalem. Not a flame upon the temple walls, But living truth revealed in Him. Water for every thirsty soul, Freedom for the heart within. The Light of God was walking there, And calling all mankind to Him. (Verse 3 β The Woman Accused) A trembling soul before the crowd, The voices harsh, the judgment loud. Stones of law were raised on high, Ready for another life to die. Yet mercy stood where rage had been, Seeing beyond the outward sin. Neither condemning nor excusing wrong, He lifted up the weak and strong. (Verse 4 β The Light of the World) The lamps burned bright in sacred space, Golden fire on every face. Then Jesus spoke above them all: "I am the light for those who call." Not merely teaching what is true, But showing what the Father would do. A beacon shining clear and bright, Leading hearts out of the night. (Verse 5 β Water of Life) Priests poured water as crowds looked on, Remembering mercies long since gone. But Jesus cried above the sound: "Living waters may now be found." Not in ritual, form, or name, Not in tradition's fading flame. But flowing deep within the soul, Where God's own spirit makes us whole. (Bridge) Philosophy may seek the way, Religion teach us how to pray. Yet neither reaches fully far Without the living Morning Star. The truth is not a word alone, Nor merely doctrines carved in stone. The truth became a living face, Offering every soul God's grace. (Verse 6 β Spiritual Freedom) Chains unseen can bind the mind, Fear and pride can make us blind. But truth received and truth embraced Leads the soul to freedom's place. No earthly throne can grant this gift, No sword the human heart can lift. The Son reveals what we may be: Children of eternity. (Verse 7 β Martha and Mary) In Bethany the noise grew still, Beyond debate and human will. Martha served with loving care, Mary listened seated there. And Jesus smiled on both their ways, The work of hands, the soul that prays. For life is fullest when we learn To serve with love and inward yearn. (Final Chorus) Light at the Feast of Tabernacles, Shining in Jerusalem. Water flowing through the ages, Calling every heart to Him. Freedom deeper than the law, Mercy greater than our sin. The Father stood among his children, And heaven's light broke in. (Outro) Some saw controversy. Some saw danger. Some saw only a Galilean teacher. But those with eyes to see beheld: The Light of the World. The Water of Life. The Freedom of God's Sons. Walking among men. πβ¨π
