Action Figures

Alternative hip-hop, raw fingerpicked acoustic guitar and sparse folk accompaniment, sudden tempo shift from a steady folk pulse into heavy boom-bap drums, abrupt stop and aggressive beat drop, dramatic British male vocal shifting from vulnerable spoken-word to fast aggressive rap, close-mic theatrical delivery with clipped double layers and restrained room reverb

[Intro: Warm acoustic guitar, soft melody] [Verse 1: Vulnerable British male voice, acoustic folk] Cape made of a bedsheet, mask made of a scarf Lined the whole army up along the carpet, drew the battle chart This one's the hero, this one's always fair Never loses, never breaks a single promise anywhere The world outside my window's simple as the toys Good guys always win it, that's just the rules of the noise [Chorus: Acoustic, melodic] Gonna be the one who saves the day Gonna do it right, gonna find a way Simple as a story, simple as a plan Gonna grow up to be exactly the man [Verse 2: Acoustic, a bit faster] Drew the whole plan out in crayon on the back page of a book Every villain gets defeated, every victim gets a second look Nobody told me yet the lines don't stay this clean Nobody told me yet what adulthood actually means Just a kid on a bedroom floor with the whole world figured out Certain of every single thing I'm certain about [Chorus: Acoustic, melodic] Gonna be the one who saves the day Gonna do it right, gonna find a way Simple as a story, simple as a plan Gonna grow up to be exactly the man [Bridge: Sudden stop, a cappella slam poetry] Didn't know yet that the story doesn't stay this simple Didn't know yet how far from the plan the whole thing would go... (Spoken, harsh) But the world doesn't care about your plan. [Beat Drop: Aggressive hip-hop, heavy boom-bap drums] [Outro: Intense British rap, angry and fast] Then the door slams shut and the reality hits! No heroes in the alleyways, just shadows and splits! You wanna save the day? Man, you can't save yourself! Left the crayon and the cape rotting up on the shelf! Welcome to the noise! Welcome to the fight! (Scream) Just wait... I'm gonna get it right! [Sudden Stop]
