[Intro] One plus one never equals two... Not when people get involved. [Verse 1] You drew a graph across my skin Mapped out every place I've been Calculated every scar Measured how broken hearts are You found variables in my veins Turned affection into chains X and Y, divide and fall Nothing ever adds at all [Pre-Chorus] You said... "Solve for X..." [Chorus] Love is really mathematics A formula for addicts Subtracting all my sanity away Dividing every memory Into fractions of what used to be Algebra is killing me today If pain equals truth And truth equals you Then what does that make me? Love is really mathematics [Post-Chorus] One step forward Two steps back Negative numbers Heart attack [Verse 2] You multiplied the doubt inside Exponentially amplified Raised your poison to a power Watched me wither hour by hour Balanced equations in your head Calculated what I said But every answer that I gave Only dug a deeper grave [Pre-Chorus] Everything reduced to data... "Simplify..." [Chorus] Love is really mathematics A formula for addicts Subtracting all my sanity away Dividing every memory Into fractions of what used to be Algebra is killing me today If pain equals truth And truth equals you Then what does that make me? Love is really mathematics [Bridge] A plus B squared. Difference of squares. Probability of failure: One hundred percent. If X equals loneliness... And Y equals regret... Then X plus Y... EQUALS DEATH OF THE EXPERIMENT! [Breakdown] Subtract! Divide! Reduce me to a line! Multiply! Decay! Watch the numbers drift away! Subtract! Divide! Reduce me to a line! Solve for me... Solve for me... Solve for me... SOLVE FOR ME! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! [Final Chorus] Love is really mathematics A theorem built on bad habits Calculating every mistake I make Dividing all reality By impossible insanity Until the whole damn system breaks If pain equals truth And truth equals you Then what does that make me? Love is really mathematics [Outro] The equation never balanced... It never does.
