🎃Headless Horseman🎃

[Intro] [Verse 1] The moon was a nickel Above the frozen pines I took the path by Miller Creek Just to kill some time My boots hit ice and twigs My lantern held low Then I saw hoof marks in the mud Leading where I shouldn’t go [Pre-Chorus] And the trees got thin Like they were holding still Something rode the cold Down the blackened hill [Chorus] Headless Horseman Riding tonight Headless Horseman Under pale moonlight If you hear that thunder You’d better hide Headless Horseman Takes you by surprise [Verse 2] There was a stump-black rider On a horse of bone A lantern in one red hand Saw his head was gone His cloak was torn by briars His saddle squealed dry And every branch above me Seemed to point and testify [Pre-Chorus] I ran through the ferns But the frost held fast I heard that laughing echo Coming from the past [Chorus] Headless Horseman Riding tonight Headless Horseman Under pale moonlight If you hear that thunder You’d better hide Headless Horseman Takes you by surprise [Bridge] He drew up slow beside me At the old stone gate And the horse stamped once Like it knew my fate Then a fire-bright arc Cut the frozen air He chased my shadow first And left the dark to stare [Chorus] Headless Horseman Riding tonight Headless Horseman Under pale moonlight If you hear that thunder You’d better hide Headless Horseman Takes you by surprise [Outro] Now I won’t go near That wood at night When the crows start calling And the moon glows white If the branches knock And the hounds howl tonight I'll remember that rider On that Halloween night
