OuT oF WhaCk

Woke up somewhere left of normal, can’t decide which way to lean. Got a dozen little impulses arguing inside of me. Pick one. I’m considering it. Could chase the daylight out the door, could let the whole damn world wait. Nothing’s wrong enough to fix— Yet. Don’t start. Should I dance? Should I sing? Should I just go for a ride? Turn the key, follow nothing, see what waits on the other side? Should I stay? Should I leave? Should I go hide under a rock? The rock sounds nice. It kinda does. I’m a lil off today, not enough to call it trouble. Just a little out of rhythm, like my shadow missed a step. Maybe I need open highway, maybe music turned up loud. Maybe I don’t need an answer— There’s a thought. Don’t get used to it. I’m a lil off today. Could disappear behind my headphones, let another world roll in. Could put my boots against the pavement, find out where the road begins. There you go. Haven’t gone yet. Maybe I’ll do absolutely nothing with impressive dedication. Finally, a plan. Temporary speculation. Should I dance? Should I sing? Should I just go for a ride? Chase the moon, lose the map, let the evening make up my mind? Should I stay? Should I leave? Should I go hide under a rock? Still voting rock. Your vote has been noted. I’m a lil off today, not enough to call it trouble. Just a little out of rhythm, like my shadow missed a step. Maybe I need open highway, maybe music turned up loud. Maybe I don’t need an answer— maybe off is where I’m at. Profound. Shut up. Maybe I’ll dance while I’m deciding, sing until I change my mind, take the long way toward nowhere, leave the sensible behind. And if none of that can fix it, there’s one option left to try— The rock. The rock. Oh, for fuck’s sake. I’m a lil off today, and I’m starting not to mind it. Let the rhythm fall wherever, I don’t have to straighten it. I can dance, I can sing, I can fire up the ride— or disappear beneath that rock until tomorrow changes sides. So… rock? Give me the keys.
