--- Diving into Grunge and really enjoying the results. Wanted to get a mix of acoustic and grunge and got a nice blend. Concept is someone going through the process of learning how to play grunge style music. They go about it the "right" way by breaking it down into the most basic of elements and learning those first before working their way up. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears, but in the end it's worth it to the performer to be able to play the music they are passionate about. The vocals are so spot on for what I wanted it to sound like. Quite happy with how it's coming out! ~David --- [Musical Introduction – Acoustic Only] [Single acoustic guitar, fingers squeaking on strings, no polish] [Verse 1] Six strings and a borrowed chair Basement light and dusty air Learned the chords the hard way first Every blessing, every curse Played them soft, played them wrong Played them till the nights were gone Tried to sing what I couldn’t say Till my voice just gave away [Pre-Chorus] They said, “You gotta feel the weight Before you ever touch the flame” [Chorus] So I broke it down Every sound Every scar they left behind Learned to crawl Before I tried To leave the ground Yeah, I broke it down Till my hands were torn apart If I’m gonna play it loud someday I gotta learn it from the start [Verse 2] I wore the grooves off old cassette tapes Stopped counting hours, counted mistakes Every scream, every quiet prayer Tried to find myself buried there Missed some nights I won’t get back Missed some love, missed some laughs But I stayed with the ache and pain Let the music take my name [Pre-Chorus] You don’t earn the noise and fire Till you bleed into the wire [Chorus] So I broke it down Every sound Every truth they couldn’t fake Learned to bend Learned to break Before I changed Yeah, I broke it down Till the calluses felt like skin If I’m gonna plug into the storm I gotta know where it’s been [Musical Interlude – Acoustic, Tension Building] [Acoustic guitar grows more aggressive, percussive strumming] [Bass note quietly fades in underneath] [Verse 3] I chased ghosts through open chords Sang their pain till it was mine Found the power in the quiet parts Between the cracks, between the lines Didn’t want to steal their voice Didn’t want to wear their face I just wanted to earn the right To take my place [Bridge – Transition Begins] [Drums enter softly, brushed or tom-heavy] [Electric guitar swells in the background] This ain’t about imitation This ain’t nostalgia’s crime It’s about paying every due Till the sound lets you inside [Musical Interlude – FULL TRANSFORMATION] [Electric guitars fully kick in, warm distortion, restrained but powerful] [Drums lock, bass thickens — grunge dream awakens] [Final Chorus – Electric] I broke it down Now I rise With the weight of what I learned From the quiet to the fire Every lesson earned Yeah, I broke it down Now I know what it demands Every blood-stained moment lost Was the price to play it right And play it honest And play it loud [Lyrical Outro] I didn’t skip the suffering I didn’t take the crown I learned to crawl in borrowed songs Before I made my sound [Musical Ending] [Electric guitars sustain and fade into warm feedback] [Final acoustic strum echoes underneath, tying beginning to end]
