[Verse 1] Wheels are turning on the asphalt, under the pale moonlight Leaving the city of shadows, fading out of sight The radio is playing a tune from yesterday I’m chasing down the horizon, but it’s drifting away [Chorus] Oh, it’s a night drive to nowhere, under the velvet sky Watching the neon signs, as the world goes by Just a stranger in the rearview, with a story untold Running on empty dreams, on a highway made of gold [Verse 2] Passed a motel by the desert, where the ghosts all sleep Secrets in the dusty wind, are secrets that they keep I saw a lady in red, standing by the door She smiled like she knew me, from a life before [Guitar Solo] [Chorus] Oh, it’s a night drive to nowhere, under the velvet sky Watching the neon signs, as the world goes by Just a stranger in the rearview, with a story untold Running on empty dreams, on a highway made of gold [Outro] "Ride on... Ride on..."
