(The Last Performance)
[Production Notes] This piece is based on the true story of eight musicians who refused to let go of their instruments even as the freezing -2°C waters of the Atlantic swept over the deck during the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Through the solemnity of the orchestra, it musically embodies the sense of duty of artists who overcame the fear of death to comfort others in their final moments. Nearer, my God, to Thee (The icy waters of the abyss rising beneath my feet) (I'm walking through the valley) (Screams flow over the tilted wooden deck) (The black ocean opens its massive mouth to swallow the ship) (As Hartley’s fingertips graze the violin strings) (We take up our bows again for those locked in despair) (Despite the soaked white tuxedos and frozen fingertips) (The notes pile up like an unshakeable fortress) (The once-golden grand staircase screams under the water pressure) (The last light of hope fading beyond the lifeboats) (Playing a farewell at the very edge of life) (We give a baptism of peace to souls paralyzed by fear) (Even as the wooden bodies of our instruments warp under the pressure) (Our prayers resonate higher than the waves) (We carve peace into the collapsing abyss) (An anthem born amidst the screams of iron and the solitude of ice) (On this final stage where no one will come to save us) (The violin becomes the song of an angel facing death) 예술은 숨이 멎는 순간 비로소 영원이 되고 (Art finally becomes eternal the moment breath stops) 우리는 부서지면서도 신의 곁으로 걸어가리 (Though breaking, we shall walk toward the side of God) (Oh, let the Atlantic rise) (That it is our destiny not to run away) (Oh, we sing into the void) (On the swaying hull, the harmonies grow even firmer) (Our final gift to be buried beneath this cold surface) (We carve peace into the collapsing abyss) (An anthem born amidst the screams of iron and the solitude of ice) (On this final stage where no one will come to save us) (The violin becomes the song of an angel facing death) 예술은 숨이 멎는 순간 비로소 영원이 되고 (Art finally becomes eternal the moment breath stops) 우리는 부서지면서도 신의 곁으로 걸어가리 (Though breaking, we shall walk toward the side of God)
