[Verse] Joey Whispers hit the road at dawn Eighteen wheels and a dream to lean on Haulin' shingles down a mountain steep The snow fell heavy The ice ran deep [Prechorus] The trailer swayed The cab went light His hands shook hard His knuckles white [Chorus] "Calm down Son " the old voice said "Ease your breath Don't lose your head Shut the Jake Now feel the glide Trolley brake Bring her back in line We’ll get you down this mountain alive" [Verse 2] The CB crackled like a lifeline call A voice of gravel A man who'd seen it all "You're hauling weight Boy She's got her own mind But you steer her steady You'll be just fine" [Prechorus] Joey's heart raced The road seemed mean But that old man’s voice cut through the scene [Chorus] "Calm down Son " the old voice said "Ease your breath Don't lose your head Shut the Jake Now feel the glide Trolley brake Bring her back in line We’ll get you down this mountain alive"
