We Wrote Our Plan

I write this letter... here as it is penned. I don't know if their letter has an end... They wrote his decree in the sky Pleaded for each of us to bend to his "why" They drape him in wisdom, with lectures and stories that bind Through analogy, they traced him through each society Woven in the DNA, grace for loyalty. Yet if you land outside the frame he placed, They leave you in brimstone for the sins you taste. For all of time, this is where you find the line... Meaning in the rhyme. I heard my entire life there are two truths to every coin A history we defend... that is impartial. Where do you marshal the will on these hills where you stand? Who wrote your plan? So without God, I found a will to press on And things went on... and on. I found a truth: the absence of proof was the proof. I wore the badge of enlightenment But year after year, defending the line, I felt spent Like I paid all I had for the rent... pending. A rewrite, a rending. Friends come and go, but that truth was my only proof. Spent a life aloof... But like a hammer through a roof, In my righteousness, I was lone! Glued to that throne... THAT FUCKING THRONE! I heard my entire life there are two truths to every coin A history we conflate, I'm at a loss still We don't even know how we feel... Do we even understand the making of man? Despite that solitude, it hardened the apathy that was me It was through that lens that I saw the cold indifference No different than the face of space... In that dark, with no sight out... I lost the will to fucking FEEL. So I fell into a greening-out dream I heard a whisper across the dark sea Not an entity, but a current before me! It’s not a thing to believe, not the dogma, But there is something written into the code of you and me! Like a hum, a motion... just think of the notion!
