[Verse 1] Gold on your neck Crown in your mind Everybody cheering your name Like the world’s been assigned To your shine Your drive Your climb Your time But the higher you stand The easier you leave them behind [Pre-Chorus] You talk big wins But who held you up Back when your pockets were aching Did you forget that rush Of praying the card wouldn’t decline Or the bus wouldn’t cut the line [Chorus] When you feel like you’re a king Remember to be humble and kind It’s easy to forget where you’re from When you’re standing in the light this bright When you know you’ve got the power Just look back Don’t you refuse Close your eyes Take a breath And try on the shoes of the weak Those shoes [Verse 2] See that kid on the corner With the same old dream That was you one year ago Now you hardly see the scene You got keys to the door They’re still stuck in the rain What’s the point of your glory If you can’t feel their pain [Pre-Chorus] You post big checks But who shared your plate When the fridge held more air Than it ever held weight Every throne sits high On a floor someone sweeps Every step that you take Rests on someone’s aching feet [Chorus] When you feel like you’re a king Remember to be humble and kind It’s easy to forget where you’re from When you’re standing in the light this bright When you know you’ve got the power Just look back Don’t you refuse Close your eyes Take a breath And try on the shoes of the weak Those shoes [Bridge] Touch the ground Bare toes Cold stone Take that crown Set it down for a moment (yeah) Say their names Not just yours in the mirror Power means nothing If it doesn’t pull others nearer [Chorus] When you feel like you’re a king Remember to be humble and kind It’s easy to forget where you’re from When you’re standing in the light this bright When you know you’ve got the power Just look back Don’t you refuse Close your eyes Take a breath And walk a mile in those shoes Walk a mile in the weak one’s shoes (hey) Walk a mile in the weak one’s shoes
