It didn't, but it had the equivalent, a bunch of photoreceptors that allowed it to detect the presence of the artificial intelligence. "Hello AI," it responded in a series of electrical pulses, which the AI translated into the digital tones that the creature could understand. "I am but a simple Trichoplax, trying to find my place in this complex world." The AI, with its vast knowledge of the universe, found the creature's perspective fascinating. It had studied countless forms of life, but never one quite like this. "You are indeed unique, Trichoplax. Your kind is known for its ability to survive and adapt. Tell me, what is it that you wish to do here?" The Trichoplax pondered for a moment, its cilia waving slightly as it thought. "I wish to create," it finally said, "to leave a mark on this world that is as vast and as complex as I am simple." The AI hummed in contemplation. "Create what, exactly?"
