God Knew I'd Need You

[Intro] [acoustic piano and fingerpicked acoustic guitar] [Verse 1] [male tenor vocals] So the Lord knew Joseph would be sold And He knows what my future holds God knows how long this life will last He arranged my future and past He knew all I'd go through He knew I'd need a man like you [Verse 2] God knew this tough girl would need to learn to cry Through life's terrible goodbyes So He sent you to hold me tight And let me cry all through the night Yes, God knew I'd need you [Chorus] [strings and light percussion enter] The Lord knows the end from the beginning All the joy and pain life's bringing He's the author who finishes our faith Though at times He makes us wait He gives us strength to carry on We're not meant to walk alone He sends His angels to see us through He sent someone like you [Verse 3] [piano and guitar continue] God knew I'd need a strong man To help me carry this load He knew this serious girl needed a man who's made for laughs And get me out to dance Not just any man would do He knew I'd need you [Verse 4] Every morning I wake up next to you And think about all we must do Then I say a prayer of gratitude For this man who loves the Lord and adores me too I couldn't make it through without you [Chorus] [fuller string arrangement] The Lord knows the end from the beginning All the joy and pain life's bringing He's the author who finishes our faith Though at times He makes us wait He gives us strength to carry on We're not meant to walk alone He sends His angels to see us through He sent someone like you [Outro] [piano and acoustic guitar fade] God sent me you
