You RSVP emotionally, Then attend spiritually, Say you’ll be there, Metaphorically. I'll save you a seat, Then you never show. And I'm tired being beat By a man with cold feet. Oh I betcha you’re already late To the plans we haven’t even made yet. You come and go You come and go Say it straight or release your hold, Ain’t gonna hold that hope. You come and go Consistently inconsistent Oh And I’m left holding Nothing and no one Nothing and no one At the bar by the canal You were all big plans Said, "We should do this” -Fun times and road trips. Next day, no reply. Same old lackluster grin. Half a yes, half a maybe, Same spiralin' spin. Oh I betcha your follow-through Got lost on the way here. You come and go You come and go Say it straight or release your hold, Ain’t gonna hold that hope. You come and go Consistently inconsistent Oh And I’m left holding Nothing and no one Nothing and no one I’m tired of reading Space in your eyes You’re a half-lit bonfire With a full-stop goodbye You come and go You come and go Say it straight or release your hold, Ain’t gonna hold that hope. You come and go Consistently inconsistent Oh And I’m left holding Nothing and no one Nothing and no one You come and go You come and go But I’m still standing When you drift off again.
