Masks on the Floor

[Intro] Full moon pressed to the glass Fog sitting low on the floor Black cat cuts between the boots Then the void takes it once more [Verse 1] I step back where the light thins out Jack-o’-lantern jumps on the kick Skeleton spins the witch and tips Second mask waiting at the edge Broomstick rolls beneath the chairs Cobwebs catch along a sleeve My mask stays seated on my face Feet already set to leave [Chorus] They know the hook, they shout it twice (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) Feet don’t stop, the floor replies I hold it while they keep the time (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) [Verse 2] He finds me when the downbeat clears White mask, coat hanging open wide Stands where the draft still moves the door Black cat peers from under the stack Hand comes out on the next hard kick I take it fog pulls off the track [Pre-Chorus] I step in the edge is gone Floor takes the weight I’m standing on [Chorus] They know the hook, they shout it twice (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) Feet don’t stop, the floor replies I hold it while they keep the time (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) [Instrumental Breakdown] [Bridge] The kick still lands, I miss the beat Weight comes off the foot that held Room keeps the shout, I let it go If the mask hits the floor, will the door stay open wide? [Pre-Chorus] I keep the turn, the door is close Mask already lighter than it was [Final Chorus] They know the hook, they shout it twice (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) Feet don’t stop, the floor replies I drop it while they keep the time (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) They know the hook, they shout it twice (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) Feet don’t stop, the floor replies I drop it while they keep the time (Masks on the floor) (Masks on the floor) [Outro] Full moon pressed to the glass Black cat gone into the night Floor still answering the kick... Foot clears the gate, mask stays behind
