Ruby Red Silence

“Same Song, Different Crowns” In a tent beside the desert spring I learned the language of wandering winds While you were high where the cold falls sing Building kingdoms on the mountain rims I carried dreams painted gold and green You dressed yours up in ruby red Two different skies inside one scene Two different wars inside one head But hate was never our disease It was silence growing in-between Like strangers sitting by the sea Watching waves erase what could have been Chorus So violin, stay close to piano tonight Even if your hands don’t move alike Even if your storms were born in different skies And your prayers rise in different lights Play beside me through the noise Through the crowds, the flags, the stubborn voices Love survives when hearts make room For another soul inside the tune No life should echo only dissonance No heart survives without resonance You spoke in words I couldn’t read I answered back in foreign fire You wanted laws and boundaries I wanted roads and open wires You wore a crown of sapphire flame I held a staff of beaten gold Still underneath our different names We feared the same growing old And all these parties, thrones, debates The treaties signed, the battles drawn Mean nothing when the music breaks And two hearts stop singing on Chorus So violin, stay close to piano tonight Even if your hands don’t move alike Even if your storms were born in different skies And your prayers rise in different lights Play beside me through the noise Through the crowds, the flags, the stubborn voices Love survives when hearts make room For another soul inside the tune No life should echo only dissonance No heart survives without resonance Maybe your world is rain and stone Maybe mine is sand and heat But loneliness becomes a throne When no two melodies can meet So let the mountains keep their pride Let the oasis guard its grace The song is bigger than our sides And harmony is not erased By different colors in our dreams Or different rivers in our veins The greatest love the world has seen Was never born from matching chains Final Chorus So violin, walk with piano tonight Turn all the distance into light Let the mountains hear the desert breathing slow Like two rivers learning where to flow No need to lose yourself for love No need to force the stars above Just stay within the same refrain Close enough to share the pain Because the opposite of love Was never anger from above It’s when two souls stop trying To hear each other’s song again.
