[Verse 1] Ash in my coffee Lipstick on the rim You say you’re stayin' I feel you slippin' again Curtains barely breathin' Morning crawlin' in slow Drag your promise like a match Strike it till it glows [Chorus] Lie to me Keep the day away Tell me midnight Ain’t ever gonna fade Swear that sun Ain’t risin' up my shame Lie to me Keep the day away [Verse 2] Your boots by the doorway Smell of rain and sin You swear you’re done leavin' But your eyes run thin Clock on the dresser Growlin' in the dark I press you to my fever Snuff it like a spark [Chorus] [Bridge] [low vocal register] Tell me I ain’t foolish Say my name like a prayer Kiss the smoke off my stories Like you ain’t goin' anywhere [crescendo] If the truth’s out there waitin' Let it howl at my door Let it pound on the window I just want you once more [Chorus]
