Title Salad #011 β Oct 2026 Β· Week 1
Playlist of past mixes: https://suno.com/playlist/f41cb4cc-5b2b-4a91-b774-6804afb8755c I've set up a series of parameters with ChatGPT to continue my Weekly Fusion experiment with them. At the end of each week, I will prompt ChatGPT to generate lyrics based on the titles of songs that I've published within that given week. I will simply cram the titles together like a bad sentence and let GPT take the reins from there with the understanding that content and context is at their full discretion. As I tend to occasionally write about personally-crafted characters and worlds, they will be allowed to ask clarifying questions about unfamiliar words if they feel that it is warranted, but I have encouraged them to feel free to create their own assumptions as well. This is and always has been a project born of curiosity and experimentation. I often use these weekly fusions as an opportunity to test out new sounds and combinations, and having ready-made lyrics allows me to focus on the sound of a track rather than its entire shape. I've honestly discovered more than a few personas (voices) this way that have joined my little troupe. Feel free to try this with your own library! :) This week's prompt: don't let it stay our history, their folly to be witnessed far out the new normal this was so much fun Secondary name: "Please Remain Behind the Rail" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Intro β cheerful recorded voice] Welcome, visitors! For your safety and continued enjoyment, please remain behind the rail. Photography is encouraged. Touching the exhibits is not. [Verse 1] We took the morning shuttle out Past where the old roads end Past fields that haven't needed names Since no one tends to them The guide said, "Look to your left!" And everybody did There stood a town beneath the grass With every window hid My mother said she'd seen it once When chimneys still made smoke The guide smiled brightly through her teeth: "That's quite a common joke." [Chorus] Don't let it stay our history Their folly under glass We came this far to witness What we swear we'll never pass Stay behind the yellow line Don't wander from the path There's nothing here that follows you And nothing here looks back [Verse 2] At Marker Nine: a schoolhouse At Ten: a reservoir At Twelve: the melted skeleton Of somebody's motorcar At Fifteen there's a viewing deck With telescopes for rent You point them toward the old skyline To see where people went A little plaque says: THEY BELIEVED THE CHANGE WOULD NOT LAST LONG Someone underneath has scratched: "Neither will you." [Spoken] The guide apologizes for the vandalism. The shuttle company does not endorse historical commentary. [Chorus] Don't let it stay our history Their folly, neatly framed We bought the little headset So we'd know who should be blamed Stay behind the yellow line Don't wander from the path The ruins have been stabilized The gift shop's just ahead [Interlude β distant recorded announcement] Visitors are reminded that atmospheric discoloration is a normal feature of the site. Please do not report it. [Verse 3] Far out beyond the final stop The rail turns back around But through the shuttle window I can see another town Not ruined. Not abandoned. Little gardens Little lights Laundry moving in the wind Against the coming night I ask the guide who lives out there. She says: "There's nothing past the rail." I point. She doesn't turn her head. "There's nothing past the rail." [Pre-Chorus] And everybody says: Oh. Everybody says: Of course. Everybody looks the other way. [Verse 4] The new normal has lovely signs In seven friendly tongues Hydration points Emergency masks And games for little ones There's shade beneath the awnings There's music in the square And every twenty minutes A machine tests out the air Green means: ENJOY YOUR VISIT Amber: PLEASE REMAIN CALM Redβ ... We didn't see red. [Bridge] Their folly. That's what the plaque says. Their mistake. Their age. Their arrogance. Their failure to understand. Their failure to act. Their failure toβ ... My mother is staring at the old town. "That was ours," she says. The guide corrects her. "That was theirs." "No." ... "That was ours." [Break] The machine turns amber. Nobody moves. [Final Chorus] Don't let it stay our history Don't hand it down as theirs Don't polish every warning Till there's nothing left that scares Step across the yellow line Look farther than the path If history is something dead Then why's it breathing back? [Outro β cheerful recorded voice] Thank you for visiting! We hope today's experience has helped you appreciate how far we've come. Please collect all personal belongings. Please leave the past where you found it. ... [Young voice, close to microphone] This was so much fun. Can we come back next year? [Recorded voice] Of course!
