WHAT BURNS STILL BREATHES

[Intro – distant female choir, soft wind, low heartbeat] [whispered, layered] (He walked through fire… …and the fire did not take him.) [Verse 1 – soft female lead, observational tone] He walks the road with ash on skin, The night still clings to flame— They spoke of gods and judgment halls… He does not know his name. His hands still tremble from the heat That did not leave a scar… As if the fire passed him by And took him where we are. [Pre-Chorus – choir swelling softly] Was he judged… or was he changed? Did he break… or rearranged? [Chorus – emotional, controlled power] If he burned… then why is he breathing? If he fell… then why does he stand? There is fire beneath his ribs That answers no command. They named it fate, they named it flame— But none can say how long… Since something woke within his chest That does not yet belong. [Verse 2 – slightly stronger, still distant tone] He was a man who broke his chains, Who fought where others fell— He freed the ones who begged for light, And those who fought him well. He never asked for crown or throne, He never bowed to name— Now shadows shift where’er he walks… And nothing feels the same. [Pre-Chorus – deeper, more uncertain] They look at him like something new… But he still feels the same. [Chorus – fuller, more layered voices] If he burned… then why is he breathing? If he changed… who holds the line? There is something in the way he moves That is not fully mine. No throne, no crown, no guiding voice— Just heat beneath his skin… And every step he takes now feels Like something pulling in. [Bridge – quiet, almost sacred; koto + choir] He dines with sinners, poets, thieves… Or so the whispers say— But he walks the dark like any man Still finding out his way. If fire chose him in that place… Then what did fire see? A god… A fool… A drunken man… Or something yet to be? [Final Chorus – rising, but not triumphant] If he burned… then let him carry Whatever this has made— Not as king and not as god… But something unafraid. No law to bind, no hand to guide— No shape we recognize… Just fire walking in a man With questions in his eyes. [Outro – fading, wind + embers] [soft whisper)] He walked through fire… …and something walked through him.
