Dear Aster
You Were a Cute little sprout, maybe too big for your skin. But when it Came to people, you just knew how to grin. You had a winning smile, A missing-tooth smirk, And when it turned to talkin', Your words just didn't work.. You wanted so much for them to want to be around, No need to worry, kid, your laugh’s a pleasant sound. Hey, I know why you feel so solo, You got a heart of alabaster. I hear a hundred thun'dring voices, Yet no one sings for the Asters. You were a Budding young socialite; You took your grandad's name. You got a New middle school, a Brave New World to claim. But it don't matter where you've been, Still struggled with the words to say; Your winnin’ grin and chuck-l-in Still brought ‘em anyway. But even then, with these new friends, you felt alone. Yet then again, way back when, you had your little bro. Oh, it aches to remember you, You got a heart of alabaster. I wish you'd let it shine some more, Why’s no one sing for the Asters? You were a Young adult; fresh start, new school again. And you still Had some trouble fitting in with all your friends. You found a sort of comfort there, At the edge of all their circles; Still felt no one wanted you, You lived in pallid purples. Oh, I know, I know; No matter where you go, You’ll always have these feelings, Got you fading like a ghost. I’ve seen you bloom when winter blows; Heard the wind cut to the bone. You hide your core while it’s keening; Try to blend in with the snow. But break the ice, see what’s below. Cut through the whiteout, warmly glow; You are a signal, aegis gleaming, A beacon straight for home. I’m sorry that I grew so self absorbed; Wish I was years faster. But I finally found these words for you, My late-bloom Aster. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ © 2025 The Badfatler All rights reserved.
